Things to Watch Out

·         Strangers and Solicitors - Verify the employment of all solicitors, meter readers and repair personnel prior to allowing them access into your home. This can be facilitated by obtaining the employer’s number from the telephone book.

Never take a telephone number offered by a suspicious person.

Be suspicious of alleged delivery personnel with wrong address or asking if someone lives there.

·         Someone Carrying Property - If it is at an unusual hour, unusual place, or if the property is wrapped as if just purchased.

·         Someone moving from door to door - Watch for a person, if after a few houses are visited, tries a door to check if it is locked, looks into windows, or goes into a back or side yard, it could be a burglar. Call the police immediately. Do not wait for the person to leave.

·         Traffic to and from a certain residence - It is not suspicious unless it occurs on a daily basis or regular basis, especially during late or unusual hours.

·         Any vehicle moving slowly and without light - Particularly in areas of schools, parks and playgrounds. Occupants may be looking for places to rob, burglarize or they could be drug pushers or sex offenders.

·         Parked vehicle with one or more persons - If it is an unusual hour, they could be look outs for a variety of offences i.e. robbery, burglary or get away car.

·         An abandoned car parked on your street may be a stolen car.

·         Continuous repair operation at non-business locations could mean stolen property is being stripped, repainted or otherwise altered.

·         Persons making a quick change of vehicles may be attempting to elude the police or quickly getting away from the commission of a crime, or could be abandoned or a stolen vehicle.

·         Wanted Persons

o   Isaac Rebagamang - Serious Crime Squad Police in Gaborone are appealing to the public to assist them with information that could lead to the arrest of Isaac Stephen Boyas Rebagamang. He escaped from Kasane Police officers at Dukwi village on their way to Francistown State Prison on the 20/05/08. He Originates from Borolong village in the Central District.

o   Thabo Khumalo - Naledi Police are appealing to the public to assist them with information that could lead to the arrest of a Zimbabwean national Sibanda popularly known as Thabo  Khumalo aged 34 years, who escaped from State Prison  on 15th  June 2006. He was remanded in custody for a case of Robbery. He hails from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and he is suspected to be in Botswana. Members of the public are warned not to attempt to arrest him as he is deemed to be dangerous.
