Six suspects arrested for dealing in dagga

Francistown police have arrested six suspects for allegedly unlawful dealing in dagga in Francistown last week Wednesday. They were found in possession 250 kilograms of a substance suspected to be dagga. The suspects, aged between 26 and 52 years, are three Batswana and three Zimbabweans.

In another incident a 42-year-old man was found in possession of a substance suspected to be dagga after a motor vehicle he was driving was searched by the police at Mokoboxane Veterinary Gate on Sunday.

During the week under review the Botswana Police Narcotic, Fauna and Flora Investigation Unit arrested 21 people in connection with 10 incidents of unlawful possession of dagga throughout the country.

The police suspect that most of the dagga is smuggled into the country through ungazetted points of entry and sold to locals . The public is urged to report to the police anyone they suspect to be in possession or dealing in dagga.
