Eight people died as 21 others sustained serious injuries in the 250 road accidents recorded during the 2010 Easter holidays. In the four fatal accidents that caused loss of five lives, all the drivers lost control of their vehicles after failing to negotiate curves or gravel roads. The other three deaths occurred when a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road, when the two vehicles collided and killed a driver and when the driver reversed and over ran a child.
The same number of deaths was recorded in the 192 road accidents that resulted in serious injuries of 36 people during the 2009 Easter Holidays.
