The Police have recorded a total of nine incidents in which people were murdered throughout the country during the past week compared to three that were reported the preceding week.
The police arrested six suspects in connection with six of the incidents. Four cases occurred at entertainment centers such as shebeens and bars. In majority of the cases a knife was used to kill the victims.
In one of the cases a 51 year old man of Mmohung lands in Molepolole was killed by a 22 year old man of the same lands last week Saturday. The victim was stabbed with a knife after a misunderstanding with the suspect at a shebeen.
In yet another incident, a 31 year old man of Botlhapatlou settlement was stabbed to death with a knife by a 37 year old man of Morwa ward in Molepolole. The men were entertaining themselves at a bar when they had a misunderstanding.
Police investigations reveal that most of the murder incidents involving the use of knives and other sharp instruments occured at drinking places. The police would like to appeal to the public to solve their differences amicably rather than resort to violence.
