The police have arrested five men on allegation that they were dealing with forged documents.
The five Zimbabwean men who are all illegal immigrants were arrested during a police operation in Gaborone during the past week. During the search the police found scanned Gaborone City Council Trade Licences, Professional Driving Permit (PRDP) for Goods and Passengers, forged residents and work permits, scanned Omang cards and drivers licences suspected to have been used illegaly . The police have seized the documents, a computer and a laptop as exhibits.
The suspects have been detained in the police cells while investigations on the matter continue.
In another incident, a 38 year old Chinese man was arrested after being found in possession of a bundle suspected to be ivory made of elephant tusk. The man is alleged to have bought the goods in Hukuntsi. The man was nabbed by the police at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport before boarding a flight to Johannesburg in transit to China.
Investigations on the matter are ongoing while the suspect is held in police custody.
