BDF Awards the Best Botswana Defence force great achievers were recently honored for their eagerness, dedication and hard work November 9 2011 at the SSKB Auditorium. The annual honours and awards ceremony’s purpose was to honour the military and non-military personnel who have excelled in their work as at 2011. The aim of this event was in line withvision 2016 pillars, which calls for a competitive and a productive nation. Great achievers were awarded according to their contribution to the organization. They received certificates, commendation of medal from the commander and a handset from Mascom while group categories were awarded with trophies. Guest of honour Director of public service management Mrs.Festinah S. Bakwena was present to honour and award the BDF great achievers. Speaking at the ceremony MrsBakwena said initiatives like this promotes competitive behavior, which brings good results. She stated that the public service has also introduced the reward menu, which also aims at rewarding public employees in order to encourage competiveness among employees. Director of Public Service Management applauded the BDF for taking the lead in appreciating their employees; she also encouraged other organisations to consider holding such events. She encouraged BDF employees to work hard and be passionate about their work. “Let us be reminded that it takes more than just a certificate to be a winner, you must be passionate about your work, this is what drives one to perform well,” she reminded. She further encouraged other nominees to continue working hard in their field of work. Furthermore Mrs Bakwenacongratulated the winners for a job well done and advised everyone to work towards increased productivity and development. She also applauded the BDF leadership for a noble initiative.
