The Hospital Laboratories offer the following services:

a) Perform a range of tests in the following specialties: Microbiology, cytopathology, Histopathology, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Serology, Blood Banking, Viral Load and CD4 count

b) Public Health needs of the country and investigation of Epidemics/Disease outbreaks

2. How do I obatin Service?

a) Visit the nearest Government Hospital laboratory after being referred for laboratory testing by a Clinician

b) You can enquire by telephone at any health facility.

c) Send a mail by post office

3. How do I apply for the service?

a) Show up at the Laboratory reception with your Identity Card and a laboratory requistion that have been completely filled by the Clinician

b)Private patients must also bring proof of payment to the laboratory. Payments are made at the pay office in the Hospital Administration Block.

c)Specimen collection including phlebotomy is done from Mondays-Fridays except for public holidays

d) Results are collected and signed for by the referring facility at the laboratory reception

e) Private patients collect their results at the laboratory reception-note that terms and conditions apply

f) Request of results via the telephone is not allowed-Note that terms and conditions apply

4. Cost involved in obtatining service  

Testing is done free of charge for all citizens.  As for Non-citizens and patient referred by private practitioners, the cost of a service or test is according to the Ministry of Health price list.  Please call pay office at the Hospital Administration for more information.
