Objectives

1. To provide patient care services in public hospitals
2. To develop and ensure implementation of policies and professional standards of practice for patient care.
3. To develop and provide quality assurance systems in patient care.
4. To monitor and evaluate patient care service delivery
5. To provide hospital-based rehabilitation services
6. To plan, provide, and manage the departmental resources

To facilitate and or conduct operational research for improved patient care.

Functions

Medical Services

Provide leadership in patient care services as well as coordinate the provision of medical services at government hospitals.

 

Management of Hospitals

Coordinates support services: laundry, catering and housekeeping.  Responsible for human resources and finance management in government hospitals.

 

Nursing Services

Provide leadership in nursing services in government hospitals; develops, directs and monitors the implementation of policies and professional standards.

 

Drug Regulatory Unit

 

Biomedical Engineering Services 

Provide technical and professional support to health care and medical engineering services.
