Ministry donate groceries

The Ministry of Agriculture through its Department of Corporate Services, has donated groceries worth over P2400 to Ms Malebogo Dikao, 36 of Tsonyane in Ngwaketse West.

The Ministry of Agriculture through its Department of Corporate Services, has donated groceries worth over P2400 to Ms Malebogo Dikao, 36 of Tsonyane in Ngwaketse West.

            Identified through the Red Cross Society, Dikao is a needy person with a family of six.

            Handing over the groceries, Senior Manager, Corporate Services in the ministry, Mrs Oemetse Nkoane said she is happy that her ministry which is tasked with driving food production came to Dikao’s assistance.

            She said the family will therefore have something to eat on Christmas Day.

            Mrs Nkoane also advised Dikao’s children to take education seriously for a better future. 

            She said though sometimes they left to collect wildberries in the bush that should not deter them from going to school.

            Receiving the donation on behalf of her daughter, Ms Mamosadi Wamacha expressed joy and happiness for the assistance rendered by the Ministry of Agricluture.           

            Earlier, Ms Botsalo Mosekiemang, Red Cross field Officer, said they identified the needs of Dikao’s family two months ago.   She revealed that the family’s situation is worse to an extent that already a 15 year old has mothered a child. 

            Ms Mosekiemang hoped the ministry of agriculture will continue to assist the family in whatever way.

            She said the village was experiencing rural/urban migration due to lack of employment opportunities.

            The donation ceremony was graced by amongst others , Kgosi Seane Gopane of Tsonyane.

As part of showing compassion, the Ministry of Agriculture through the Care and Compassionate Trust Fund recently donated a total of P10 000 to those in need of assistance.

            The Trust Fund donated P6000 to Mr Letumile Kgogobi, 24, a 4th year student at Botswana College of Agriculture who has kidney problems. Kgogobi is expected to raise between Half a million pula to One million pula to undergo kidneys transplant.

Another beneficiary was Mr Kabelo Modise, an employee of the ministry who received P4 000 following a disaster, which befell him when his house was gutted by fire destroying all his property worth over P20 000.
