LIFTING OF SOME IMPORT RESTRICTIONS FOR PRODUCTS FROM RSA
Farmers, traders and the general public are informed that the FMD situation in the Republic of South Africa continues to improve. Investigations have shown no evidence of active FMD or any spread of the virus beyond Kwa Zulu Natal and Gauteng Provinces.
Farmers, traders and the general public are informed that the FMD situation in the Republic of South Africa continues to improve. Investigations have shown no evidence of active FMD or any spread of the virus beyond Kwa Zulu Natal and Gauteng Provinces.
Importation of the following products from Limpopo, North West and Northern Cape Provinces only is permitted: grasses and straw for use as livestock feed any other livestock feed, pasteurized milk, matured red meat from abattoirs approved by RSA, hides, skins and trophies soaked in 4% soda for 30 days in a quarantine and transit pork and cloven-hoofed meat products.
The transit meat products should enter RSA through Cape Town and will then require an import permit from Botswana and a transit permit from RSA.
These import conditions will be revised from time to time depending on the prevailing conditions.
