The Ministry of Agriculture informs the general public that restriction on the importation of oranges includes all types of sweet oranges (navels, valencia, naartjies, mineola). This new development is necessitated by the increased local production of other sweet oranges namely naartjies and mineola. The restrictions, therefore help local produce to enter the market.

Following the recent years outbreaks of Fruitfly, the Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations have given out US$219,000 to fund management of Asian Fruit Fly (Bactrocera invadens) in Botswana.

The Ministry of Agriculture wishes to remind the general public and farming community that the dispensation on exportation of live cattle which started on 5th of August 2013 is coming to an end on the 31st December 2013 as previously announced.
