Minister Kgathi encourages BISA athletes and the National Football team the Zebras
The Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture Hon. Shaw Kgathi met with BISA athletes who are about to leave for Czech Republic to go and compete during the ISF cup games there. According to the BISA Chairperson Steven Bothasitse, this would be the first event that BISA participates in, stating that they were honoured to get the opportunity to compete at such prestigious games. The team is expected to be sent off on the 17th June 2013.
On other news, Hon. Shaw Kgathi met with the National Soccer team the Zebras and hosted them for lunch at the Gaborone Sun, prior to their encounter with the Central Africa Republic on Saturday 15th July 2013. The Minister found it fit to meet and encourage both the BISA team and Zebras to encourage them before their games. Minister Kgathi implored the athletes going to the Czech Republic to bring back medals from the games. He expressed that he had his hopes pinned on them in light of the 2014 African Youth Games to be held in Botswana next year.
The Minister was accompanied by national champions, Amantle Montsho and Nigel Amos, who both said a few words to encourage both teams. Speaking at both events, Amantle told the teams to believe in themselves and that they should not be intimidated by anything. She told them that since they have prepared and trained hard, impossible is nothing, reiterating the theme for the 33rd BNSC Awards, held over the past weekend. On the other hand, Nigel Amos encouraged the teams to go out and just do it, quoting the Nike tagline.
