                          REF:   YSC 1/16/ 1 I (47)                                                   28th December 2012   Dear Editor   PRESS RELEASE INVITATION TO ENROLL FOR A FOCUSED YOUTH DEVELOPMENT FUND BOOTCAMP   The Ministry of Youth, Sport & Culture wishes to inform all aspiring young entrepreneurs in the age bracket of 18-35 years, who are interested in applying for the Youth Development Fund (YDF) to register at the nearest District Youth Office. Registered youth who pass screening will be enrolled into a four weeks long Boot camp specifically designed to focus on entrepreneurship development, identification of sustainable business opportunities, business legislative and administrative framework, and business planning.   Applicants are expected to complete a short questionnaire and submit on or before close of business on Monday 21st January 2013.  The Boot camp, which is scheduled to run from the 28th January – 28th February 2013, is geared towards assisting the youth to venture into viable projects that can create employment opportunities and eradicate poverty.    Those young people who have already graduated from the YES Boot camp and have a serious urge to venture into entrepreneurship, are hereby informed that a separate arrangement will be made to enhance their entrepreneurial skills prior to submission of their Youth Development Fund applications.  However, they should also register at the nearest District Youth office.   For any enquiry, please contact the Department of Youth at 3909222 or any nearest youth office.     ________________________________ Ruth M. VENSON-MOITOI WELCOMES BACK THE UNDER 20 SCSA ZONE VI TEAM IN STYLE   The Minister of Education and Skills Development, Dr Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi says through sport, young learners can be groomed into responsible citizens as it teaches them qualities like discipline and time management. Dr Venson-Moitoi was speaking at the welcome reception for the Supreme Council of Sport in Africa (SCSA) Zone VI U-20 team Botswana on Monday at Oasis Motel.
BOMU AWARDS THRILL THE AUDIENCE AS ARTISTS GO ALL OUT TO IMPRESS   The Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Keletso Rakhudu says the Botswana Music Union (BOMU) Awards are an important platform for artists to gauge themselves against one another and compete with the best in the country. He was giving a keynote address at the 4th BOMU Awards on Sunday night at Boipuso Hall.
BNSC CHAIRMAN LAUNCHES ART BOTSWANA;THAPONG Botswana National Sports Council Chairman, Mr Solly Reikeletseng says art is growing in leaps and should be accorded the respect it deserves in building any society. Mr Reikeletseng was officially launching the book Art Botswana; Thapong. He said art can put Botswana on the global market because this has happened in other countries.
MINISTER KGATHI IMPRESSED BY BOSETU'S SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY The Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Hon. Shaw Kgathi says he is impressed by the magnanimous way in which the Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union (BOSETU) is giving back to the community where they live. Minister Kgathi was officiating at the third BOSETU Cultural Night held at Boipuso Hall last night.
CHINA HANDS OVER THE MULTI-PURPOSE YOUTH CENTRE TO BOTSWANA The People's Republic of China handed over the long awaited Gaborone Multi-Purpose Youth Centre to Botswana on Friday at a small handover meeting at the centre. China was represented by the Chinese Ambassador to Botswana, H.E Liu Huanxing while Botswana was represented by the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Hon. Shaw Kgathi at the event.
SIAMISANG ENCOURAGES YOUTH TO BE PROUD BATSWANA AT YOUTH PITSO IN JWANENG Deputy Permanent Secretary (Youth and Sport) in the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Jefferson Siamisang has called on young people to be proud of being Batswana and to do all in their power to change their behaviours for the better. Speaking at the just ended Youth Pitso for the South in Jwaneng yesterday, Mr Siamisang said some young people have a tendecy of forgetting that some day they will be older and whatever they did as young people might come back to haunt them.
PRESS STATEMENT- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE UNDER 17 NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM’S QUALIFICATION FOR THE YOUTH AFRICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS, MOROCCO 2013   The Ministry of Youth Sport and Culture (MYSC) congratulates the Zebras Under 17 National Team for the excellent performance they exhibited during their qualifying games for the Youth African Championships to be held in Morocco in 2013.  The team walloped Algeria 4-2 in penalties after a one all draw, on the evening of Sunday November 2nd, 2012.
