NATIONAL FLAGS HOISTING LAUNCH IN KANYE::: The public is invited to the Official Hoisting of the National Flags on the 9th November 2013 in Kanye, at Ntsweng Ward near the BTC tower. The flags will be hoisted on different towers across the country and the objective is to create awareness and hype as we build-up to the year 2016. These special National Flags will fly until the 50th Anniversary of Independence on the 30th September 2016. The event will be broadcast live on Botswana Television and Radio Botswana between 11am and 12 noon.

47TH INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATIONS The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture and various stakeholders is happy to announce that after years of non-celebrations at the National Stadium, this year's 47th Independence Celebrations will be held at the National Stadium on the 30th September 2013
NOTICE:: The Department of Youth, through the Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES) Programme, will be hosting a one day Car Wash Symposium on the 4th October 2013 in Gaborone targeting young people in the car wash business. The objective of the symposium is to come up with innovative strategies for sustaining the Car Wash Industry, given its popularity amongst young people and its capacity to create employment. This symposium comes in the wake of the water rationing, regulatory/licensing instruments, land allocation, zoning and other challenges and opportunities. The Ministry of Youth Sport and Culture has partnered with the Botswana Tourism Organisation and Botswana Motor Sports in an endevour to have a meaningful, successful cultural, sport and recreation event in Botswana. Second year running, the event ran between the 23rd to the 24th August 2013 with activities including football knockout matches seeing Khawa United FC, the host team, winning 3-2 to the BDF Recruits United FC. There was also importantly the Cultural and Art Exhibition by the Department of Arts and Culture (under the Ministry of Youth Sport and Culture), who showcased various products and / or artifacts mostly originating from Khawa and the catchment area such as Khuis, Lokgwabe, Draihoek and others.
