UNVEILING OF DE BEERS GROUP SPONSORSHIP TOWARDS THE 2ND AFRICA YOUTH GAMES ON THE 15th MAY 2014::: Distinguished Guests, 1. We are encouraged by the support we continue to receive from individuals and companies alike. We are therefore optimistic that we will have successful games. 2. Director of Ceremonies, through the prudent management of resources by government, revenue earned from diamonds have been used to develop the country and in particular the human resource. The hosting of the Games has been made possible by among other things the availability of sporting facilities developed from the mineral revenue. 3. As Government we are committed to developing our people especially the youth in areas of their competencies. Through the Elite sponsorship, a number of athletes have been sponsored to pursue careers in the field of sport some of whom have represented Botswana at world competitions. Today Botswana boasts of athletes such as Amantle Montsho and Nigel Amos, who have put us on the World Map.

MOSISEDI COMMERCIAL FARMERS ASSOCIATION GIVES BAYGOC P20 000 CASH AND 7 TONNES OF WATER MELONS:::The 2nd African Youth Games Organising Committee, BAYGOC again got P20 000 and 7 tonnes of water melons from a group of farmers, Mosisedi Commercial Farmers Association at a ceremony held at the Lansmore Hotel yesterday. The sponsorship was received by the Acting Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture Hon. Vincent T. Seretse. Today the Honourable Minister is expected to receive sponsorship from the De Beers Group at 09000hrs at the DTCB Auditorium and the at 1100hrs he will meet the African Youth Games Team Botswana at Oasis Lodge in Tlokweng before jetting off to Canada to attend the World Anti-Doping Agency(WADA) Committee of Ministers Meeting. He will be back on the 20th May 2014.

The Zebras Senior National Team has left for Burundi this morning (15 May 2014) to play against Burundi on Sunday 18th May 2014 as a qualifier match for the AFCON 2015. The game will be played at Bujumbura Prince Louis Rwafasore Stadium and kick start will be at 1530 hrs Local Time, 13H30 GMT. We wish the National Team under the leadership of the new coach Mr Peter Butler, good luck in their opening first leg away match.

The Botswana National Sport Council has issued a circular to its affiliates, inviting the General Assembly to a Special Meeting to be held on Thursday 15 May 2014 at the National Stadium Warm Up area. The meeting is scheduled for 1730hrs. It is expected, as per the Bnsc circular No. 26 of 2014,that affiliates will be updated on the upcoming Africa Youth Games to be held from the 22 to 31 May 2014 in Gaborone. As per the practice, the Ministry of Youth Sport and Culture, the Botswana National Olympic Committee, Women and Sport Botswana (WASBO) and Sport Volunteer Movement(SVM), have also been invited to the meeting on observer basis.

BOMAID AND ITS GROUP OF COMPANIES INJECTS P2.2 MILLION WORTH OF SPONSORSHIP TO BAYGOC::: The 2nd African Youth Games Organising Committee, BAYGOC got an injection of P2, 251 075.00 last night from BOMAID and its group of companies that include MRI and South View. The P2 Million sponsorship includes $100 000 cash, key manpower resources, provision and coordination of ambulance services, EMS services and call centre services.

The Acting Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Honourable Vincent Seretse will tomorrow, Thursday 8th May 2014 donate netball and soccer balls to all primary schools in Gaborone at Ithuteng Primary School. This initiative is aimed at promoting sport development among young people in Botswana.
