Road brings new opportunity for Batswana – by Doreen Thato Moapare

Only joy is expected to reign in Kweneng West following governments’ initiative to build the 214 km Letlhakeng – Morwamosu Highway in that region.

The Highway project was partially financed through Chinese Concession loans and has brought socio-economic development closer to the local community, therefore improving their quality of life. It acts as a shorter travel route from Gaborone City to destinations inclusive of Namibia through Mamuno Boarder, Ghanzi, Maun and Shakawe. The highway has seen increased usage by freight companies and other operative businesses, and brings opportunities for Batswana especially in the tourism, transport, and trade sectors. The Letlhakeng-Morwamosu Highway, along with the Kang-Tsetseng Road link, will be officially opened by the Honorable Minister Frank J. Ramsden in Dutlwe Village on the 27th November 2010. The following are some of the various consultations held with the local community at Dutlwe.
