Ramotswa-Boatle Road Project Resumes

The quest to improve service delivery by the Ministry saw the Minister of Transport and Communications Hon. Molefhi, in less than a month addressing the South East District on road developments and maintenance projects undertaken by his ministry in the South East District after recently addressing North East District Council. The Minister assured the full Council meeting that the contractor was back on site to complete the Ramotswa-Boatle road project after delays occasioned by the need for the contractor to apply for mining rights. Councilors however expressed dissatisfaction over delays by contractors carrying out Government projects, they complained that such project delays resulted in cost overruns and consequently caused road accidents.

e-Notifications to improve service delivery, Keep Citizens Informed

The Department of Information Technology (DIT) in partnership with the Department of Road Transport and Safety are undertaking a pilot project to use short message service (sms) in notifying customers to renew their driving licenses. The service will notify customers in a convenient, efficient and effective manner through a free sms. The notification project is still at a trial phase. The pilot began on the 13th July and is expected to take two months and SMS are sent on the 1st and 21st of each month. Once seen to be viable, the Department of Information Technology will further expand the services to other ministries that are at the core of providing important services to the public.

The first jet is expected to touch down at SSKIA this month and the second one in September. Both Aircrafts have a seating capacity of 94 seats. Deliveries of the Avro RJ 85s will be yet another important step towards the Ministry of Transport and Communications aim to become a leader in providing efficient and reliable transport services. Moreover, Air Botswana has partnered with Brand Botswana to co-brand on both the aircraft, as such they will bear the distinctive Air Botswana branding on the tail and the Botswana pride mark on the belly “Our Pride, Your Destination”.
