PARLIAMENTARY QUESTION
TO BE ASKED ON: Monday 15 August 2011
ASKED BY: Mr. D.R. Seretse, M.P (Serowe North East)
QUESTION:
To ask the Minister of Transport and Communications if he would consider increasing the minimum age requirement for qualification to drive passenger vehicles to ensure that passenger carrying vehicles (public transport) are driven by more mature persons.
ANSWER:
My Ministry cannot consider amending the Road Traffic Act to ensure that Public Transport Vehicles are driven by more mature persons. This was last done in November 2008 when the minimum age was increased from 21 years to 25 years in terms of Section 52 of 2008.
Thank you Madam Speaker
