Service Description
1. Rebate Certificate
Rebate certificate is a document that exempts non-governmental organizations (like welfare organizations registered in terms of Societies Act cap 18:01), religious or sporting or educational organizations; persons with disability, hospitals including clinics from paying customs duty on donated goods.
2.1 Where do I obtain the service?
Service is obtained at the Department of International Trade office at Plot 690, Extension 2, Gaborone, Opposite Tim’s Lock and Key;
2.2 How do I apply for the service?
Make an application in writing, either hand deliver or post to the Director, Department of International Trade, Private Bag 0073, Gaborone. Attach a copy of registration certificate from Registrar of Societies and a letter of proof from the donor indicating that they have indeed donated such goods to you. Also attach the invoice of goods being imported.
Certificate issued within a day for error free applications.
2.3. How much does the service cost?
It is free of charge.
