General description:

Applications are invited from suitably qualified citizens for the above position in the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Coal Development Unit, Gaborone.

 

Leave:                             30 working days per annum.

 

Benefits:                1.         Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme

2.         Compulsory Pension Fund Scheme for Permanent & Pensionable Appointments (Government pays 15% and Employee pays 5%).

Qualifications:        Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or equivalent. Post graduate specialization in transport and logistics management is preferred

 

 

Experience:          At least 14 years experience on management of a mega projects,

five of which should have been at senior managerial level in transport                 operations management preferably in a railway environment

 

 

Main Purpose of the Job:          

  • To plan, organize, direct, manage and control the cost effective, competitive, safe conveyance of coal and freight throughout Botswana railways’ network and adjoining railway administrations to optimize utilization of assets and resources, maximize profitability and meet customer service expectations and ensure adherence to Coal Development Unit (CDU) operational regulations to promote reliability and safety throughout the network

·         Enhanced awareness of Coal Development Unit (CDU) products and services by the public in general and particular target markets

·         Cost effective management of budget in order to reduce operating costs.

·         Safety, and avoidance of accidents and incidents.

·         Establishment of operating procedures, regulations and policies

·         Optimal utilization of rolling stock and human resources.

·         Adherence to agreed train and delivery schedules.

·         Cost effective management of budget in order to reduce operating costs and maximize profitability.
