THE REFURBISHMENT OF THE MMAMASHIA WATER TREATMENT PLANT IS ON
The refurbishment of Mmamashia water treatment plant effected on the 3rd March 2016 and is expected to last for a period of four months. The ongoing refurbishment of the plant is done to optimise its performance. This therefore will result in increased water shortages in the Greater Gaborone areas. Mmamashia Water Treatment plant treats water from Bokaa, Letsibogo and Dikgatlhong dams as well as from the Masama Well Field. Water Utilities Corporation regrets any inconvenience that may be caused.
Status update
Water supply situation in the city of Gaborone, Tlokweng, Mogoditshane, Metsimotlhabe, Gabane, Kumakwane and surrounding areas is stable. Mochudi and the surrounding areas have water with enough pressures to supply both low and high lying areas. Bokaa and Oodi continues to have pressures which are not enough to supply high lying areas. For the Greater Gaborone incidents of low pressure to no water have been reported in areas of Gakuto and Bokaa villages. Bowsing is ongoing in Gakuto and Bokaa villages to augment supply. For Mmatseta village the supply to the areas has been affected by cleaning of the tank and water supply is stable. Advisory Always ensure that all water taken out of the WUC network and stored in containers for use during supply interruptions is handled in a hygienic manner to avoid contamination. All water users are urged to conserve water at all times so that the available supply can last a little longer. SAVE WATER, SAVE LIFE
