MORUPULE B NOT WORKING TO ITS MAXIMUM CAPACITY
Morupule B Power Station is currently not producing power to its maximum capacity due to technical problems experienced in the boilers at the plant. Honorable Minister O.K. Mokaila said this recently when briefing the public on current power situation. The Minister informed the public that the Ministry together with Botswana Power Corporation is doing everything possible to rectify the problem and stabilize the power situation. The Minister further warned that the country may experience insufficient supply due this problem. Furthermore, he pleaded with the public to always save electricity by switching off all unnecessary electronic appliances at all times.
Moreover, the Minister urged the public to switch off geysers during off peak hours that is from 6pm-10pm and 6am-10am. Switching off air conditioners, pool pumps, lights that are not necessary will also save electricity. It is further advised that energy intensive activities like ironing, cooking using electric stoves, washing using washing machines should be postponed to off peak hours. In conclusion, it is recommended that all electrical circuits and appliances be treated as live at all times to ensure security.
