Honourable Ministers leave for Maputo, Mozambique

The Ministers of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Hon Onkokame Kitso Mokaila and of Transport and Communications, Hon Nonofo Molefhi leave for Maputo, Mozambique on the 6th August 2013 on an official business at the invitation of Hon Esparanca L.F.N. Bias, Minister of Mineral Resources of the Republic of Mozambique.

The visit will enable the Honourable Ministers to meet with their counterparts responsible for energy and transport and discuss bilateral relations in the mining, energy and transport sectors. Mozambique has expressed their desire to learn from Botswana's experience with regard to the development of the mining sector. Mozambique is endowed with natural resources such as coal and natural gas.

Hon Mokaila and Hon Molefhi will meet with the Minister of Energy to discuss progress on the Inter-Governmental Memorandum of Understanding on Energy which was signed last year. Issues to be covered include but are not limited to the following:

.  Acquisition of Coastal Storage for petroleum products destined to Botswana using alternative routes
.  Cooperation between the two national companies, Botswana Oil and Petromoc
.  The possibility of jointly procuring petroleum products in an effort to enjoy economies of scale for the two countries

They are also scheduled to meet with the Minister of Transport, to continue discussions on the infrastructure development for the exportation of Botswana's Coal through the Mozambique Coast.

Hon Mokaila and Hon Molefhi will be accompanied by officials from both the Ministries of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources and Transport and Communications and are expected back home on the 8th July 2013.
