GREATER GABORONE AREA WATER SUPPLY SITUATION 18 JANUARY 2016
GREATER GABORONE AREA WATER SUPPLY SITUATION 18 JANUARY 2016
STATUS UPDATE: Water supply in the Greater Gaborone area has remained stable since December 2015. Isolated incidents of loss of pressure have been reported in some areas and addressed within reasonable time. The water supply situation outlook in the area remains satisfactory as Bokaa Dam has had some average inflows from the rains. The availability of Bokaa Dam has been significant in alleviating the water shortages.
Advisory: - The Greater Gaborone area’s water supply has improved significantly since the beginning of the festive season. This is attributable to two major factors, the reduction in demand as schools and other institutions, factories, businesses etc were closed for the holidays as well as the drop in the city’s population as residents went away on vacation. The resumption of treatment of the Bokaa Dam water has also improved supply. However, since the 4th of January 2016, water demand has been steadily rising. WUC will keep monitoring the situation and advise the public accordingly. Despite this improvement in supply, all water users are still urged to conserve water at all times. Save water, save life.
