Botswana Oil Launches Gauntry Construction site
Botswana Oil Limited held a ground breaking ceremony for the Gantry Project at the company’s depot in Gaborone in November 2014. Giving an overview of the project, the General Manager-Operations, at Botswana Oil Limited Mr. Mosetlho Kenamile said the mandate of Botswana Oil Limited is to ensure the security supply of oil in the country. He further stated that “the Gantry Project will alleviate the pressure that additional business generated by Botswana Oil is exerting into facilities”. He expressed that he is positive that with all the support they are getting from the stakeholders the project will be delivered on time and within budget estimated to be P16 million.
Mr. Kenamile pointed out that this project is in line with their strategic intentions, “Botswana Oil’s short-term strategy is to ensure security supply in the country, so in a way this facility will enable the company to easily evacuate and distribute the products to other parts of the country” he said. Moreover, he highlighted that they have appointed the project design consultants, being Vigosoft and procured tenders for construction of the site. For his part, the Director at the Department of Energy Mr. Kenneth Kerekang said the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources has for a long time been highly dependent on oil companies for supply and distribution, pointing out that since Botswana Oil started operating there has been a significant progress in terms of ensuring the security of supply.
