DEMAND SIDE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM TO BE IMPLEMENTED FROM TODAY, 04 MAY 2015
Botswana Power Corporation informs the general Public that electricity supply system remains vulnerable this week due to low generation capacity. As an initiative to alleviate power supply challenges, a Demand Side Management program will be fully implemented from today, 04th May 2015 at 6PM -10PM until further notice. While this program was planned to commence last week on the 28th April, customers are reminded that its implementation is only done when there is a supply challenge.
This program which only covers Gaborone, Francistown, Lobatse, Selebi Phikwe and Jwaneng is intended to keep load shedding as minimal as possible during peak demand as well as creating equity in the conservation of electricity. Customers are reminded to use minimal electrical appliances during the peak times; (6AM-10AM and 6PM-10PM) to avoid disconnecting power supply in their households and/or small businesses. The Corporation sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused.
