General description:

To manage and coordinate the programme of work of the Minister/Assistant Minister and to ensure that briefing notes are of good quality and that Speeches are well researched and written in a manner that reflects the status, dignity and good image of the Minister/Assistant Minister.

Job description:
  • Manages and coordinates the work of the office of the Minister/Assistant Minister to ensure timely and efficient delivery of service to the Minister/Assistant Minister.
  • Provides advice to the Minister/Assistant Minister on any issue as and when called upon to do so.
  • Prepares draft statements/speeches for the Minister/Assistant Minister’s public speaking engagements.
  • Coordinates the Minister/Assistant Minister’s office activities and directs these activities to the Minister/Assistant Minister
  • Accompanies the Minister on external and Local trips as assigned
  • Covers assignments such as workshops and Ministerial meetings
  • Manages the diary of the Minister/Assistant Minister in a manner that ensures that meetings with the Minister/Assistant Minister are held on schedule and provides services as required 
  • Attends the Minister/Assistant Minister’s  media interviews and monitors the press by following up written stories to determine whether or not they are a true and correct record of the interview 
  • Receives members of the public who intend to submit appeals to the Minister/Assistant Minister and, advises them on the correct procedure to be followed.  Clarifies any misconceptions which may be the basis of wrong expectations 
  • Receives and responds promptly to invitations to the Minister/Assistant Minister for official and social engagements as directed.

Job requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Arts Degree, Politics and Administration, Economics and Sociology.                                  

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of 10 years experience at middle management in the Public Service, Private Sector or Parastatal with Administrative, Economic, Political and Public Relations responsibilities
