Job description:

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • To coordinates development planning, facilitate implementation of District/Urban Development Plans and promotes Local Economic Development (LED) in the District/Urban centers.

DUTIES

  • Provides professional advice on matters pertaining to economic development.
  • Monitors the implementation of Government and Council policies and programs dealing with economic development.
  • Supervises and coordinates the preparation of the District Development Plans, Annual Development Plans, Annual Development Plans Reviews and Mid Term Reviews.
  • Coordinates Financial Resourcing and Expenditure Control for development projects.
  • Liaises with other stakeholders on issues relating to Home Economics (Fairs, seminars, workshops and commemorations).
  • Supervises and coordinates feasibility studies determining project viability (economic, social, environmental etc) and setting of project priorities.
  • Coordinates periodic reviews of the implementation of Government and Council policies and programmes.
  • Provides professional advice to District/Urban Development Committee and its sub-committees.
  • Undertakes any other related duties as directed by management.

Job requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Degree in Social Sciences (Economics and Statistics/ Population Studies).

EXPERIENCE:        

  • 10 years relevant on the job work experience, 2 years of which must have been served at D3 level.
