MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

• To plan, manage and coordinate the construction and maintenance of buildings, development and maintenance of parks and cemeteries.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

The officer on this grade performs the following duties:

• Provides strategic leadership and direction for the achievement of the Department’s mandate.
• Develops direct policy on construction and maintenance and ensures effective implementation of the policy
• Develops appropriate and measurable standards and monitors their implementation to ensure timely project implementation
• Monitors the implementation of projects to ensure value for money.
• Develops strategies which guide and direct implementation of projects.
• Provides professional advice on matters relating to the implementation of projects.Liaises with key stakeholders on policy direction relating to construction and maintenance
• Facilitates review of contract documents in consultation with Department of Corporate Services in order to meet client’s specific requirements.
• Reviews and recommends policy changes on issues related to project implementation and maintenance.

QUALIFIED APPLICANT (S) PROFILE

To be considered for appointment to this position, candidates must at least have:

• A Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Transport Economics or related field 
• At least 10 years relevant post qualification experience with at least 2 years at D2 level.  
• Must be registered with the relevant professional body.
• Masters in any of the above fields will be an added advantage.
