Woolworths Botswana handed clothing items to the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Honorable Botlogile Tshireletso to be distributed to the needy across Botswana.

In his welcome remarks the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Mr. Molefi Keaja said it is closure of the month of prayer but that doesn’t not mean people should stop praying. “Let us continue to pray incessantly and remember all those affected by HIV/AIDS and have pray that the cure for the disease is found soon.

Mr Keaja said as the Ministry they appreciate the gesture and help from Woolworths Botswana as that shows good spirit of giving and caring to Batswana. He further said Batswana should be thankful and never take for granted the peace and stability the country enjoyed for all the years but rather to thank God for the peace and tranquility and continue to pray that it reigns forever.

For her part Hon Tshireletso said In today’s world people leave in a world where there are greedy and selfish people with too much individualism but Woolworths defied the odds by approaching Gaborone City Council to offer to donate the goods to them, noting that shows they gave the gifts with love as GCC never approached them to give.

Hon Tshireletso commended Woolworths for their noble gesture of donating the goods, saying the gesture comes at the right time when the country is in the spirit of Jubilee time hence that will bring joy to Batswana and the recipients who shall receive the donations. She noted that the clothes will go to deserving people as some have been sent to SOS.

She applauded Woolworths for the gifts, the organizers of the event and those who came to support the noble initiative, urging them to keep up with the spirit of giving citing that even the bible says blessed is the hand that gives. The donated clothes are for kids, elders and are in various or different styles.

Woolworths Botswana Country Operations Manager Mr Thami Ndlovu congratulated Botswana for celebrating 50 years noting that there has been unity and tranquility in the country and Batswana are united and proud of their language, traditional values and botho. Mr. Ndlovu said Woolworths partnered with GCC in this initiative to see how they can give back to the needy during this momentous occasion of fifty years.

He said they saw it fit to extend the hand to the Ministry adding that it is their wish that the donations reaches even areas outside of Gaborone. Woolworths go by the values of quality and style, sustainability, energetic in order to represent the brand and the country, and provide good service with commitment while caring for the environment.

Pastor Bareki urged staff to pray without ceasing and give thanks to the Lord for reaching such a milestone of fifty years, the time is now to celebrate 50 years of independence.
