Tribal Administration Wellness a success Like the swallows remembering home as a loving tree every single day, like a loving mother finding beauty in the shadow of her child, like a wounded limping buffalo bull fighting back its predators only to protect its flock, like a lioness lying very low to the ground slowly moving forward to its prey, hugging the ground before it pounces. These are interesting life analogies postulating motivation.

Tribal Administration Wellness a success

Like the swallows remembering home as a loving tree every single day, like a loving mother finding beauty in the shadow of her child, like a wounded limping buffalo bull fighting back its predators only to protect its flock, like a lioness lying very low to the ground slowly moving forward to its prey, hugging the ground before it pounces. These are interesting life analogies postulating motivation.

The Director of the Tribal Administration said something akin to these words at the Wellness Day commemoration of his department recently. Mr. Seboko said health eating and exercising brings in better health in employees and will definitely reduce the number of sick-offs. He said once the number offs is reduces, there will be more productivity. He continued to explain that work-place wellness through a good, healthy lifestyle, we would also save the government money spent on lifestyle/ non commutable diseases.

The Tribal Administration Director also urged his staff to give support to their own, Kitso Otlogetswe who is undergoing kidney treatment. He said the gentleman needs our love and support. He continued saying that Kitso has a foundation called Botswana Kidney Society. The foundation’s key objective is to raise awareness on issues related to the disease. He urged his staff to support the foundation. He also appealed to the staff to show compassion to the community. One example he gave was that they could locate a needy individual or family and raise money to build them a house as part of their community social responsibility.

Kgosi Donald Mosielele of the Court of Appeal emphasized the importance of working as a team. He said every single individual in a workplace forms a system within the organization. So for the system to perform well, it calls for every one to be in the best physical, psyco-social form. As a result, work-place wellness is of paramount importance.

Kgosi urged the attendants to watch their eating habits, saying they should desist from eating junk food as they are usually too oily and spicy, very detrimental for their health. It is worth noting that some illnesses direct from the womb of the food we eat.

Assistant Tribal Secretary, Ms. Edith Pilane thanked her colleagues for making the even a success. She said wellness are very good for the body and urged the committee to regularly host such events. She says dealing with social issues from their customers on daily basis, then dealing with one’s personal issues may be too much for the body and soul. As a result wellness day activities help ventilate these out of our bodies.

The Ministry’s Wellness Coordinator Ms Setho Ramafifi thanked the organizing committee and urged them to also engage villagers as stake holders within the department. She said financial wellness is something that should be taken seriously as it affect ones psyco-social being when mismanaged. The theme of this years event was “Contributing towards a healthy nation”.
