SmS Should Resign and Re-apply-Says PsP
17/01/13
In a recent meeting with respective district leaders from around the country, the Permanent Secretary to the President (PSP) Mr Eric Molale, availed that Senior Managers on E2 scale and above should resign and re-apply for employment, in accordance with the new Public Service Act Number 30 of 2008.

During his address PSP Molale revealed that this paradigm shift is aimed at streamlining the Public Service and as such it is envisioned that this initiative will increase productivity within Government organisations. Owing to the inner workings of this initiative, PSP Molale, noted that upon re-applying for employment, Senior Managers will be hired on a contractual basis, which will range from 24, 36, and 60 months respectively.

To augment the new terms of employment for Senior Managers, Performance Contracts will also be signed by Senior Managers and as such they (Senior Managers) will be held accountable for the successes and failures that will accompany their duties, and as such this may have a direct influence on the renewal of their contracts. According to PSP Molale, “this exercise comes about as a means of improving the deliverance of services to the public”.

During the same address PSP Molale emphasised that “District Commissioner Offices are key in ensuring public service delivery and improvement at the district level, hence the National Strategy Office in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has come up with a Public Service Delivery and Performance Improvement initiative to monitor and enhance public service delivery across the country. Thus, this Performance Improvement Initiative is characterised by Interns being recruited and placed at the District Commissioner Offices to assist with the implementation of this initiative.

It may thus be said that, 2013 is a year that will see dynamic changes on current systems that are premised on improving service delivery and raising customer Satisfaction levels.
