Ministry of Local Government (MLG)
Moving House
02/11/12
In an effort to continue delivering quality people centred services to its clients, the Department of Local Government Strategy Management (DLGSM) has relocated its offices from the Department of Labour and Home Affairs building Floor 8 to the Ministry Headquarters Second Floor.

It has been availed to Batho Pele that the move was prompted by the need to improve service delivery since the Department of Corporate Services was finding it difficult to optimally deliver as a result of the time taken shuttling between the two respective buildings. Furthermore, duplication efforts were evident before the move, as officers at the former DLGSM handled cases which were being handled by other officers at Headquarters. Another major challenge that was apparent was the instance of the perpetuation of “Silo’s” and as such this proved detrimental to the maintenance of conducive working environments between departments.

When quizzed about the advantages of the move Mr. Richard Boitshwarelo availed that “the move will have a positive impact since on services delivery as Corporate Services as a whole will be housed in one building and thus reduce duplication, the problem of missing files, and customers will get services under one roof hence there will be less time wastage”.

As with any project teething problems are expected in the form of officers adjusting to the new work environment. As such, all MLG staff are requested to kindly welcome our colleagues and assist them during this relocation process.
