During the recently held Market Day in Lobatse on the 6th of July 2013, a VDC representative stated that the objectives of the event was to market products that are produced by small businesses locally.

This is to encourage these businesses to ensure that their products are of world-class standards in order for them to be able to compete within the country and internationally.

During his key note adress, Steven Ludick encouraged participants at the market day to keep up the good work and never to underestimate their small businesses. Ludick also urged successful business people to mentor, support, and assist small businesses in all ways possible.

Speaking at the same event, Lobatse District Commissioner, Geofrey Gare, said that market day functions offers a platform where all talents are displayed. He further said that he hopes that "these businesses will one day place Lobatse on the international market".

As way of motivation, Phil Matibe, the Chief Executive Officer of the upcoming dairy farm in Lobatse said "If you want to be successful in business you should stop listening to people who doubt you." Matibe encouraged small businesses owners not to give up, saying that when one wants to give up, that’s when the results are; right there in the horizon.

To end the day, the Director of Community Services also awarded certificates to some of the exhibitors for their work.
