DIKGANARITA

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Events coordinating committee goes by the name Dikganarita. Dikganarita is a Setswana word that denotes a resolute and meticulous champion of one’s course. The committee is run by the ministry’s employees of which 2 was taken from each department of the ministry.

Dikganarita’s mandate is among other things to drive the ministry’s corporate Social investment initiative and the ministry’s vision 2016 pillar of, ‘A compassionate, just and caring nation.’ Within the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development context, corporate social investment focuses on establishing social infrastructure and building strength and capabilities that contribute to the uplifment of communities. With its dedication, passion and commitment to its mandate the team Dikganarita, has undertaken a number of projects to build and better the community.

In 2008 Dikganarita, initiated the establishment of a community garden and school orchard for the village of Ramokgonami in the Central District as part of the ministry’s corporate social investment drive that respond to the goals and aspirations of Botswana as enshrined in the national manifesto, 2016. In 2009, four destitute and disabled beneficiaries for portable water connection in Letlhakeng village where the vision 2016 awareness month was held. In the year 2010 Dikganarita built a house and erected water for other four destitute in Jakals No. 1 in the North East district.

The journey of Dikganarita continued with its marvelous projects of closing the gap of poverty from the year 2010 to date, including Kgotla structure built for the ministry which has been a total evidence of the team’s creativity and hard work.it is used in celebrations like independence. it pride itself in funding for the projects through activities by staff and community at large which include car washes, sale of braai packs and beverages and pledges. The team also goes beyond the call of duty by ensuring that all projects are run smoothly through their active participation in negotiations and planning of these projects.

On the ongoing hype of Botswana’s 50 years jubilee celebration, the team has played its part by ensuring that the Ministry appearance is appealing. Is has therefore made an effort to paint the Ministry’s building artistically whereby every passerby can reckon and appreciate Dikganarita’s amazing work. With their passion the team has dedicated each Friday of the week to accomplish its activities of revamping the Ministry towards the Botswana independence Celebration. It has a branded attire of dust coats which they wear during their work.
