THEME: HOUSING AT THE CENTRE

3D ILLUSTRATION AND VIDEO DESIGN COMPETITION

The United Nations has designated the first Monday of October every year as the World Habitat Day. The purpose of the day is to reflect on the state of all human settlements and the basic human right to adequate shelter. It also aims to remind the world of its responsibility for the habitat of future generations. As part of the annual 2016 World Habitat Day National Observance, the Ministry of Lands and Housing has organized competition under this year’s theme “Housing at the Centre”. The theme intends to emphasise the importance of housing on the livelihood of mankind around the globe.

Given the theme the competition calls citizens and permanent residents of Botswana to create a 3D illustration and video design depicting the homestead of the Batswana from as far back as when Botswana got its independence, looking at how housing has developed overtime. The design must in relation to the theme, portray the transformation of housing types, in real urban and rural lifestyle of Batswana.

INSTRUCTIONS               

-Immediate family members of the National Organising Committee and Department of Housing should not         participate

- The video should take a length of 5 minutes

-The Design competition must be sent along with evidence of the design process and textual description. Full Names of the entrant, certified copy of Omang/Resident Permit, contact numbers, e-mail address, Affidavit from Commissioner of Oath attesting to the authenticity and originality of work.              

-Entries should not seem to have captured nudity, and must not be offensive and indecent.

-Entries that reach the Department later than the closing date and time will not be considered.

-Participants should also make follow ups to ensure that their entries have been received.

-Only one entry per participant is allowed, or else entrants will be disqualified.

-Entrants are informed that entries shall remain property of Department of Housing.

-Contact details must be clearly indicated (See addressee’s box).
