REGISTRATION OF SOCIETIES

The Department of Civil and National Registration, registers the following types  of  societies;

• Religious Organisations.
• Miscelleneneous Associations
• Professional Association
• Burial Societies
• Recreational and Sporting Clubs.

NB: Only non-profit making organisations are registered in the Departement.

What are the requirements to form a Society?

• 10 or more people/companies

• Letter of intention to form a society with the following attachements;

a) Minutes of the formation of the Society.

b) List of attendees of the meeting with signatures and national identity numbers. (A minimum of ten people should attend the meeting.)

The letter should be sent to;

• 10 suggested names for the society in order of preference and list three or more objectives.
• The names should be reflective of the nature of the society whether it is an association, club, church or society.

In case of non-citizen serving in the executive committee certified copies of their resident permits, working permits and passport, detailing their picture and personal details should also be submitted.

How will the Registrar of Socities respond to the letter?

The following will be sent back to the applicant(s)

• Form A
• Membership list
• Guidelines of the Societies constitution

What is expected from the applicant(s) after the response?

• 3 copies of the constitution
• Form A, completed in triplicate
• Membership list

How will I know my Society has been registered?

The following will be issued;

• A certificate
• Form A
• Constitution

How long does it take to register a society?

14 days

How much does it cost?

• A non-refundable P500.00 for Associations and Churches
• A non-refundable P250.00 for Burial Societies and Clubs
