National Internship Programme

The national internship programme is aimed at providing skills transfer to Batswana graduates with degree qualifications.

How do I obtain the service?

  • Be a citizen of Botswana
  • Should have completed a degree from a recognised any recognised institution.
  • Be a holder of a Diploma qualification classified as scarce skill under the Department of Public Service Management.
  • No previous record of permanent employment.

How do I apply for the service?

  • a certified copy of your valid identity card (Omang)
  • a valid identity card (Omang)
  • a certified copy of your degree certificate
  • a certifoied copy of your diploma qualification
  • a complete curriculum vitae

Where can I get the service?

INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME ANNUAL WORK PLAN

The Internship Work Plan Form should be completed by the Intern and the immediate Supervisor. This plan should reflect the major duties that the Intern will complete within the maximum period of 24 months, which is the duration of the Internship. This becomes a performance contract in which the Intern's specific roles and duties are agreed upon by the Intern and the Host Orgnsaisation. The expectation is that Interns should obtain a well rounded view of skills developmenrt and transfer, professionalism and be exposed to various levels of work ethics.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS

During the internship programme, Interns are to be appraised for their performance at rhe host organisation by their supervisors. Appraisals should be done using the Intern Appraisal Form after which, the form is sent to the Department of National Internship Programme for purposes of monitoring and evaluation.

NB: Appraisals should be done on a quaterly basis.

EXITING THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

Interns exiting the programme, are required to fill in the Internship Exit Form to assist in processing their departure from the Progrramme.
