MLHA COMMEMORATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY -MOLEPOLOLE
The Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs through Gender Affairs Department celebrated the Commemoration of International Women's Day on 5th March 2015 at Molepolole Stadium.The event was commemorated under the theme " Beijing +20 - Where are We?"
International Women's Day is an international campaign which is globally commemorated on the 8th March every year and Botswana has chosen the 5th as the day in which this event will be commemorated. The main aim of this event is to reflect on progress made towards achieving gender balance between men and women and it also hightlight on what still needs to be done to achieve gender equality.
The Minister of Labour and Home Affairs Honourable Edwin Jenamiso Batshu who officiated at the event stated that this year,2015,the world will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the ground breaking Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action which is a comprehensive and transformative framework for action to move humanity foward;focusing on the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
