KEY NOTE ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE MINISTER OF LABOUR AND HOME AFFAIRS HONOURABLE EDWIN JENAMISO BATSHU AT THE 7TH INTERNATIONAL LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS ASSOCIATION (ILERA) - AFRICA REGIONAL CONGRESS HELD AT THE GABORONE INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE 15TH TO 16TH SEPTEMBER 2014
15th & 16th September 2014 – Gaborone :The Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Honourable Edwin Jenamiso Batshu officiated at the International Labour and Employment Association (ILERA) -Africa 7th Regional Congress which was held in Gaborone Botswana from 15th to 16 September 2014 at Gaborone International Convention Centre. The event which was organized by the Industrial Relations Association of South Africa (IRASA) in collaboration with the Botswana Public Service Bargaining Council (BPSBC) was held under the theme`The African Perspective on A Changing World of Work: How do the Increase of Foreign Investment in Africa, The Extent of Informal Work, The Impact of Labour Migration and the growing importance of Public Sector impact on the Labour Market, Employee Relations and Social Protection in Africa.
The purpose of the regional congress was to promote the study of Labour and Employment Relations throughout Africa and the world; and was to be achieved by encouraging the establishment and development of national associations of industrial relations specialists through facilitating the spread of information about significant developments in research and education in the field of industrial relations and promoting internationally planned research by organizing study groups on particular topic.
