Uncollected Pasports
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship is concerned about the increasing number of uncollected passports. Earlier this month, the number stood at just over 17000 uncollected passports and today, 30 November, 2011 the figure has risen to 21051 uncollected passports. The public is reminded that collections are made at the office where applications were made, except in Gaborone, where all collections are done at Immigration Headquarters.
Rollout in Missions and Embassies
Roll out to Botswana embassies and High Commission is still ongoing. So far, the passport system is now operational in the following missions;
- Australia, Canberra
- Belgium, Brussels
- India, New Delhi
- United Kingdom, London
- Sweden, Stockholm
- Japan. Tokyo
- Switzerland, Geneva
- Republic of South Africa, Johannesburg and Cape Town
No extra charges after 31 December, 2011
NB: There is no penalty fee for passport applications made after 31st December 2011. The deadline is only for the use of the old manual passport and not for the application of the e-passport.
