MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

Yesterday, Wednesday 26 February, the Ministry had its Community Service Day where they donated food items and stationary worth P8 890.20 to Kgothatso AIDS & TB CARE in Gaborone West.

The goods were handed over by the Director of Asia and the Pacific  Mr. Clifford Maribe and Ms. Pearl Lowani on behalf of the Permanent Secretary.

Kgothatso AIDS/TB Care is a programme of  the Gaborone Lutheran Congregation ELCB, caring for the sick, the affected and their caretakers. It is a daycare center, where the underprivileged residents of Gaborone who are also affected by HIV/TB and are on treatment, are collected from their homes to spend the day at the center. They are given food, breakfast and lunch, to make sure that they take their medications on a full stomach. In the afternoon they are returned back home. The bedridden patients are assisted at the comfort of their homes where meals are delivered to them and their care givers.
While at the center during the day, patients receive counselling, they do art work like painting, knitting and sewing, indoor games and sometimes watch movies. They also get spiritual uplifting counselling and are taught the word of God.
