2016 / 2017 RE-SPONSORSHIP CYCLE

The Department of Tertiary Education & Financing invites qualifying students to apply for re-sponsorship for the forth coming 2016/2017 academic year. These are students who have been sponsored previously by Government but have failed to complete their programme of study.

Please note the different types of requests for re-sponsorship:

 

1.      Reinstatements - students who were terminated from sponsorship due to academic failure or who dropped out of  DTEF sponsorship due to any other reasons.

 

2.      Repeat/Retake - students who are requesting to be re-sponsored to re-do failed modules/subjects

 

 

RE-SPONSORSHIP WILL COVER THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES OF STUDENTS;

 

1.      STUDENTS WHO WOULD HAVE COMPLETED IN MAY/ JUNE 2015 or DECEMBER 2015 and satisfy the following conditions;

 

a.      Students not currently under sponsorship.

b.      All outstanding modules/subjects should be completed within one academic year at the most.

c.       The students must not have previously benefitted for re-sponsorship.

 

2.      PROCEEDING STUDENTS - These are students who were terminated due to poor academic performance but have sponsored themselves to pass all the failed modules / subjects or have passed relevant year after change of course. These students must also satisfy the following conditions;

a.      The students should have passed ALL outstanding modules which led to termination of sponsorship.

b.      Where the student changed courses, he/she must have sponsored themselves for the same number of years as he/she was sponsored by Government.

c.       The student should submit a complete academic transcript.

d.      The student will be expected to submit June 2016 academic results once they are available.

e.      A financial statement, which states that the students does not have any outstanding debts with the institution.

f.        The student must not have previously benefitted for re-sponsorship.

 

3.      ORPHANED & VULNERABLE CHILDREN (OVC)/RURAL AREA COMMUNITIES (RAC) & SPECIAL EDUCATION (SPED) LEARNERS - These are students who are covered by the Government affirmative action policy. They are urged to submit their applications to the Social & Community Development offices in their area of stay.

                 

4.      YEAR 1, 2, 3 & 4 STUDENTS - These are students who were terminated or dropped from sponsorship at year 1, 2, 3 & 4 from June 2013 – December 2015. – Students who will be considered are those who were sponsored to pursue programs of study in the below listed priority areas, and request to be sponsored in the initial program of study, or within the listed priority areas:

 

a.      Architecture, Bachelor of Engineering

b.      Medicine

c.       Pure Sciences - Physic, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics

d.      Professional Programs CIMA, BICA. ACCA and CIPS

 

 PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF YOUR APPLICATION:

 

1.      Application letter detailing:

·         TR No.

·         Date of previous sponsorship;

·         Your previous / first Institution of study

·          Your previous / first program of study;

·         Date of sponsorship termination or withdrawal

·         Reasons for termination or withdrawal

 

2.      Certified copy of valid National identity card (Omang)

 

 

3.      Financial statement from the current institution as proof of full payment (if student was on self- sponsorship after termination / withdrawal)

 

4.      Most recent comprehensive official academic record or transcript (i.e. from first year to date)

 

 

 

5.      Admission / Re-admission letter from the institution, stating the following:

·         Program of study

·         Duration of study

·         Student’s level of study

·         Expected completion date of the program   

·         Indicating any changes in the curriculum(i.e. subjects replacements) 

 

6.      Full completion of the M&E 1 (Monitoring & Evaluation) application form.  (Obtainable from DTEF – CHERRY HALL).

 

FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS:

 

1.      All copies of academic results to be certified by the issuing Institution.

 

2.      Applications still awaiting admission letters will be accepted, BUT will only be processed  after the admission letter has been submitted

 

3.      The Department reserves the right to request for additional information in order to facilitate sponsorship processing.

 

4.      Furthermore the Department reserves the right NOT TO PROCESS ANY APPLICATION with missing supporting documents.

 

5.      Applicants are reminded that admission at Institutions is NOT a guarantee for sponsorship

 

6.      Applicants are advised to obtain acknowledgement receipt as proof of submission of application.

 

7.      Ensure that you supply all requested supporting documents

 

NB – Pick-up sponsorship applicants MUST apply as new students, and must meet the current cut-off point of 36-points

 

 

ALL APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED AT   DTEF OFFICES-CHERRY HALL (BLOCK 6, GABORONE)
