DEPUTY PERMANENT SECRETARY (CORPORATE SERVICES)

The above vacancy exists in the Ministry of Defence, Justice and Security Headquarters.
The function of Corporate Services in the Ministry of Defence, Justice and Security exists to facilitate, and coordinate planning and budgeting of human resource, supplies, procurement, transport and logistics for the Ministry and its departments.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
1. Interprets corporate services policy and gives advice on policy issues.
2. Translates the Ministry vision into clear, compelling and challenging programmes.
3. Develops long, medium and short term corporate services objectives to achieve the Ministry vision.
4. Coordinates the formulation, review and implementation of corporate services policies.
5. Coordinates the development of operational guidelines for the Department based on established Public Service Rules and Regulations.
6. Reviews existing communication strategies and develops new strategies to ensure effective internal and external communication.
7. Coordinates management of financial, human and physical resources to meet strategic organisational and customer needs.
8. Monitors sustainability of products and service delivery by the Ministry of Defence, Justice and Security.
9. Coordinates the supervision and monitoring of performance and rewards.
10. Coordinates development programmes for staff
11. Facilitates engagement of consultancy services for the Ministry of Defence, Justice and Security as per need.

QUALIFICATION PROFILE
To be considered for appointment to this position, candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or Strategic Management or equivalent, plus sixteen (16) years relevant post qualification experience.
Applicants must have served at least two years at senior management level in Government or equivalent in the Private Sector.
ADDED ADVANTAGE
Masters degree in a relevant field and an extensive knowledge of civil service structures, rules and regulations and good people management skills.
Salary: P398 808
Leave: 30 working days per annum
Medical Aid: Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%)
A contract of 24 to 36 months, with gratuity at the rate of 25% payable upon expiry of the contract.
Commensurate entertainment allowance.
In-service leadership training at Botswana Public Service College
