SERVICE DESCRIPTION
This is the issuing of different trade licenses as required by Trade Act 2003, Liquor Act 2003 and Industrial Development Act 2006 and their regulations.
This also includes issuing Hawkers and Street Venders Certificates to non working people.
The services are available for citizen, non-citizen and companies registered in Botswana with appropriate applicable fees.
HOW DO I OBTAIN THE SERVICE?
Applicants must write to the Town Clerk informing the office on their interest to carry out a business
Or
Through Physical Presentation to Sowa Town Council Commercial Affairs office and complete application forms for the particular license required.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE SERVICE?
Citizens and companies registered in Botswana must present the following documents with their applications:
- Application forms duly completed
- Lease agreement- if the applicant is renting the premises
- certified Omang Copies
- Title Deed of the plot
- A positive Health inspection report which is obtained from the Council Health Inspectors.
- A Non- refundable Application fees of P100.00
- Application fee of P50.00 for Industrial Licenses.
- Directors Form - if any
- Certificate of incorporation
- Share certificates
In addition to the above mentioned list Non-citizens must present the following:
- A valid Residence and Work Permits
Applications will then be presented to the Commercial Affairs Division for final checking before licensing committees for consideration.
When the Licensing Committee approved or disapproved the application, the applicant is notified immediately by a letter.
COST INVOLVED IN OBTAINING THE SERVICE
The License fees for Trade, Liquor and Industrial Development Acts are standardized country wide and ranges from P200.00 to P1500.00 depending on the type of license they have applied for and Hawking and vending differs from council to council.The table below shows the types of licenses and fees.
