Self Help Housing Agency is a Department responsible for assisting low and middle income earners to afford better shelter. Turn Key means that the beneficiary is handed over the key of the house after completion and ready for occupancy. The roll-out of the turn key housing programme in Southern District started in September 2009 after receiving the funds from the Department of Housing totaling P3 000 000.00 phase I, P5 761 000.00 phase II and P6 480 000.00 for phase III for 108 beneficiaries. The main objective of the programme is to provide decent shelter to rural people in the low and middle income bracket P1 000.00 to P3 033.00. The total cost of the housing unit is P60 000.00.

 

a)    HOW DO I OBTAIN SERVICES

 

Customers must present themselves in person with the certify copies of

·         Land Board certificate

·         Marriage certificate if married

·         Pay slip

·         Identification card (Omang)

In case the customer has a Suretor the Suretor has to submit the following

·         Pay Slip

·         Omang

·         Two witnesses

 

b)    HOW DO I APPLY FOR SERVICES

 

Only citizens are entitled for the SHHA loan. The customers must present themselves in person to the SHHA office with all the necessary documents.

 

c)    COST INVOLVED IN OBTAINING THE SERVICE

 

No costs are involved in obtaining the service.

Using the council refuse compactors, tractors and clinical waste vehicles, waste is collected from the client’s place by the sanitation crew once a week.

 HOW DO I OBTAIN THE SERVICE

 The customer ensures that he/she has a refuse bin for storage of waste and he informs the sanitation office of his location. Sanitation crew collects the waste at least once a week. In the case of a skip hire service, the crew transport and places a skip container at the spot identified by the client who is expected to load the waste on to the skip. The skip filled with waste is then collected when the period it was requested for elapse

 HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE SERVICE

 Clients pay  waste collection fee at the Council revenue office and thereafter present the receipt at the sanitation office where they are registered for the service. For skip hire service, client pays fees depending on the period he requires the skip at his yard (to a maximum of three days). The receipt is presented at the sanitation office for registration.

 COST INVOLVED IN OBTAINING THE SERVICE

 v  Residential    -P8.00/Month

v  Commercial  -P100.00 – P150/Month

v  Skip hire        -P15/Day
