PRESIDENT KHAMA VISITS MAGOTLHWANE VILLAGE.

The quite village of Magotlhwne on Thursday 3rd November sprang to an uproar of ululating sounds of ladies and men who welcomed the President His Excellency Lieutenant General Dr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama. The president with his entourage had paid homage to Magotlhane villagers to get a feel of how they are managing with life.

In his welcome remarks the village Chief Kgosi Johnson Phiri told the president that they have long requested for tarred road that links their village with that of Kgomokasitwa. He said this hampers mostly on service delivery by Public Servants. On health matters he asked the president that their health post be upgraded to a clinic level.

Kgosi thanked the president for his visionary leadership saying that it has helped in directing this country in the right direction. For his part the president explained to the community about the recent naming of the Ministries and their portfolio.

He told the community that the renaming of Ministries was done such that emphasis was more on the direction the government wanted to take. Ministry of Agriculture is now Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security.

‘Government is committed to improving Agricultural sector so that the country produces enough food to feed the nation and lessen its dependence on exporting food, he said.’

On health matters he urged people to live healthy lifestyles and not become clients of hospitals and clinics. The president also explained to the community the importance of renaming Ministry of Lands and Housing to be Ministry of Land Management and Sanitation Services.

‘Often time’s services offered by this ministry are intertwined with other service providers like Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) and Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) and this has always caused delay in service delivery. To curb this problem we have come up with this resolution to address the problem, he lamented’.

Honorable Minister of Land Management and Sanitation who was part of the entourage Prince Maele said his Ministry has come up with a strategy dubbed Botswana National Spatial Planning. This planning strategy encompasses all stakeholders to do their planning at once to reduce complaints from the nation.
