The ground breaking ceremony that was held recently at Polokwe to officially start the North South Carrier(NSC) project came at a definite time when all hope was gone for Southern District as most of their boreholes are either dry or about to.

Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources Honourable Kitso Mokaila said the project which is estimated to cost P700 million is expected to be completed in 30 months.

The Minister explained that the 118km project is awarded to BSZ Joint Venture, which is a combination of three companies with 40% of it given to local citizens.

He said the project is set to commence from Mmashia pass by Mononyane, then through Thamaga, Moshupa then end at Kanye. Mokaila explained that the pipes are deliberately passing by Mononyane, as they have future plans of connecting Molepolole village on the pipe line.

In his remarks the Chairman of Southern District Council, Hon. Leach Tlhomelang thanked the Minister for fulfilling his promise of awarding the tender on time. He then urged BSZ Joint Venture to utilize this opportunity by doing a magnificent job.
