Eligibility criteria
- Citizens of Botswana – Batswana
- Age : 21 – 60 years
- Income bracket : P366 –P3033
- Formally employed or legitimately self employed in the town in which an application is lodged
- Pensioners
HOW DO I OBTAIN THE SERVICE
Required documents for application
- Certified copy of ID (Omang)
- Latest advice slip
- Verification of employment form for the employed
- An affidavit for the self employed and pensioners
Two passport photos
Marriage certificate for those married
HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE SERVICE
SHHA plot
Contact the nearest SHHA office with the above listed documents.
NB: Applications for SHHA plots are currently frozen
Plot allocation (depends on availability of service land)
- Contact the nearest SHHA office with the above listed documents
- On allocation of plot, an allottee is to pay a deposit of 10% of plot purchase
- Plot purchase prices vary according to plot sizes
SHHA Loan (service standard – 1 month)
- Submit all documents listed under B
- Quotations for building materials & labour
- Approved building plan (standard or private).
- For Turnkey the plan is standard.
Standard plan is free of charge for now.
SHHA Loan is in two categories;
SHHA improvement Loan
The loan is for house improvement only.
- Maximum amount is P45 000
- Loan is to be repaid in 20 years (monthly instalments)
Turnkey
- The loan is P60 000
- The Council builds a house for the beneficiary
- Loan is to be repaid with monthly instalments of P250 for 20 years.
SHHA plot transfer (Certificate of Right) - service standard: 1 month
The transferor is to bring along the following;
- Two (2) witnesses,
- Consent letter on transfer
- Two (2) passport size photos
- Certified copies of Omang
- Transfer forms are filled in the office.
- The plot should not be in arrears to be transferred
Plot Conversion From Certificate Of Right (COR) to Fixed Period State Grant (FPSG)- Service Standard : 5 days
The following are required:
- A copy of Notice of Approved Survey
- Proof of private water connection,
- Original Certificate Of Rights to be surrendered
- A plot should not to be in arrears
- Payment of plot conversion price which is P2.50 per m².
SERVICE LEVY
- Is a levy to be paid by every plot holder of Certificate of Rights in SHHA areas
- The charge towards provision of infrastructure in the area and that is street lights, road maintenance, water (public stand pipes), sanitation and refuse collection
- Service levy is currently P25 and for those with private water connections is P23
- Service levy is paid monthly
