DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE:
- This is the application of approval plans.
- It is done during the pre-construction and construction stages of all intended developments.
- All buildings/construction developments within the District planning area are required to be submitted to Council for approval before execution/implementation
OR
- The construction inspection stages also can be done by qualified private inspectors after approval by the Department. A formal request by the developer has to be forwarded first to the Department. This should include names, qualifications, CV, and copies of other supporting documents of the identified inspector.
HOW DO I OBTAIN THE SERVICE
Fill in the application form and submit to the Building Control Office together with the following:
- 3 certified copies of Land Rights (title deed, certificates or lease)
- Plans (of intended developments) and drawings in four (4) copies of each to the Building Control office.
- Plans received are stamped, checked for compliance with all building parameters and scrutinized within the departments (health, waste water, Architect and physical planning). Then the building control committee gives the approval.
- Applicant is informed about the results and collection of the letter of committee decision either-approval, conditional approval, deferred or referral to SHHA or Physical planning.
- If plans are approved the Applicant has to collect the building permit
- The permit holder has to book for inspection of the structure either through phone or in person. The inspection is done on first come first serve basis. Copies of approved drawings has to be produced during inspection
- The final inspection involves the committee for acquiring occupation permit
COSTS INVOLVED TO OBTAIN THE SERVICE
Inspection is for free but the customer must pay for plan perusal fees. The charges are as follows:
